Steven D. Vaillancourt of Marshfield passed away at home surrounded by his family on February 28th, 2025 at 68 years old. Beloved husband of Elizabeth Vaillancourt née Smith, he was the loving father of Paul Vaillancourt of Lowell, Elyse Vaillancourt of Marshfield, and Michael Vaillancourt of Quincy as well as grandfather of James Vaillancourt-Jones. Son of the late Donald and Patricia Vaillancourt née Viapiano, he is survived by siblings Diane Richardi (husband Joe), Robert Vaillancourt (wife Karen), Patricia Quill (husband Jerry), Peter Vaillancourt (wife Joy), and James Vaillancourt. Steven also leaves his stepmother Jeannette Vaillancourt and stepsiblings Joe Hoy (wife Teri) and Jeannette "Gigi" Oler.

Steven grew up in Hull, graduating from high school there in 1974, where he often spent his days at the beach where he enjoyed surfing, clamming, fishing, and boating. He was close with his friends from Van Club and enjoyed road trips on his motorcycle cross country as he began his career as a carpenter. He met the love of his life in 1981, marrying Elizabeth in 1983 and moving to Marshfield in 1985.

Steven loved to camp and was involved with the Boy Scouts with his sons. He enjoyed outings skiing and taking part in grassroots automotive racing with them. Steve and his daughter shared a love of design and planned various woodworking and interior design projects together, including several he built for his grandson.

Steve was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local Union #327 for 25 years. He retired from Turner Construction in June of 2022. However, Steve had started to show symptoms that were later diagnosed as Bulbar ALS. Despite these struggles, in his final year Steve was able to travel to Italy with his wife. A last great adventure that he was able to share before his own journey into the next life.

A celebration of Steve's life will be held for family and friends at the Marshfield Elks Lodge on Ocean Street on Sunday, March 16, 2025 from 2:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers donations can be made for ALS research through https://www.als.org/ or a charity of your choice.
