Thomas M. Lester, a longtime resident of Marshfield, died on March 7, 2024 at the age of 86. He was born in Jamaica Plain, MA to James and Agnes (Gavin) Lester. He attended St. Thomas Grammar School and graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in 1955. He graduated from Boston College with a B.S. in Economics in 1959. He then entered the Marine Corps before embarking on his career in investments.

Tom worked in the investment industry at John Hancock Insurance, Loyal Protective Life Insurance, and Home Savings Bank. After his retirement, he sent out a weekly investment letter with 100% of subscriber fees donated to Pro-Life organizations. He dedicated much of his time to supporting Pro-Life activities. In earlier years, Tom enjoyed sailing and tennis. More recently, he spent his leisure time gardening and playing chess.

For nearly 60 years, Tom was the beloved husband of Paula (McNamara). He was the cherished father of daughter Carolyn Magowan (Mark); daughter Christine Logan (James); son Thomas M. Lester, Jr. (Kristen); and daughter Donna Rudolph (Mark).

Tom was fortunate to have 13 loving grandchildren who were a source of great pride and enjoyment to him; Lauren Rudolph, Paul Rudolph, Joey Logan, Jack Rudolph, Meagan Logan, Kate Rudolph, Jay Logan, Sophia Lester, Kaelin Logan, Laura Magowan, Christa Logan, Madelyn Magowan, & Griffin Lester.

Tom also leaves his sister Carol Gallagher of Walpole. He was predeceased by his brother James Lester & sister Mary Donahue.

Visiting hours are at the MacDonald Funeral Home,1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and a funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 40 Canal Street in Marshfield at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.
