Paine, Thomas C., of Marshfield, passed away on February 19, 2017 at the age of 76. Thomas is the beloved husband of Barbara (Berry) Paine and father of Sandra Morrissey and her husband Michael of Winter Garden, Florida. Thomas leaves his grandchildren Patrick and Carlton Morrissey and siblings Joan Jordan of Billerica, John Paine of Old Orchard Beach, ME, Carol Paquet and her husband Al of Wells, ME, and Robert Paine and his wife Marie of Lebanon, ME, as well as many nieces and nephews and all of their children. He is the son of the late Charles and Annie Paine.
Tom was a hard-working family man. He was an active member of International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 4 for 49 years. He graduated from the Engineer Apprentice Program and was very proud of all the buildings he had a part in building, especially those in which he worked on his tower cranes high in the sky. Tom was born in Somerville MA but was raised in Old Orchard Beach ME where he learned to love the sea and its surrounding beaches. He did return to graduate from Somerville High School. Tom loved adventures from a very early age and this was true throughout his life. Before marrying his wife of 49 years, Tom had a variety of adventurous jobs and bold interests all of them included being outdoors and in nature. Once married, he focused on his family and was devoted to being a good husband, father and grandfather. When he wasn't working, he would take his family on adventures by car, camper, canoe, or RV. Tom was an avid outdoors man who loved skiing, hunting, camping, kayaking, bike-riding, being on the open road on his motorcycle and walking in the woods with his dog. He was actively involved in fundraising and volunteering for Pan Mass Challenge, Relay for Life, and for Catholic Charities. After his retirement, Tom took pleasure in sharing his experiences with his grandsons, working odd jobs, and making new friends. He enjoyed many hours at the Marshfield's Senior Center as a driver, helper and participant in the walking club, poetry group and other programs. Tom was a calm, quiet strength in a constantly changing world, like the comfort of the ocean waves from the sea he loved.
