Thomas "Tom" Sheehan, of Marshfield, age 78, died on May 13, 2017 after a long illness. Tom is the beloved husband of 54 years of Suzanne Elizabeth Darr Sheehan. Tom leaves his children, Kimberley Freedman and her husband, Ed, Michael Sheehan and his wife, Bonnie, Kerry Solomon and her husband, Todd, and Erin Ward and her husband, Mark;  his grandchildren, Jared and Seth Freedman, Lindsay, Annika, and Nicholas Sheehan, Eric, William, and David Solomon, and Thomas and Ainsley Ward.  Survivors also include his siblings, Ellen Sahlin and her husband, Gerard, and Jerome Sheehan and his wife, Karen.

Tom was born in Newton and was a long-time resident of Marshfield. Tom graduated from St. Mary's High School in Waltham and was a 1961 graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, with a B.S. in Nautical Sciences. Tom was actively involved in his community, coaching his son's ice hockey team, serving on Marshfield's town Advisory Board, and volunteering weekly at the Marshfield Senior Center as technology support. Tom traveled extensively for the American Export-Isbrandtsen Lines until he married Suzanne in 1962. He then enjoyed a career in insurance, specializing in Disaster Recovery. An avid family man, Tom especially loved his children and grandchildren, and attended as many of their sporting, academic, and artistic events as time and logistics would possibly allow. Tom was a boating and automotive enthusiast and loved cruising and travel with Suzanne and researching his family's ancestry. He was a lifetime member of the Marshfield Rod and Gun Club and enjoyed playing golf.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte. 139) in Marshfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Christine's Church, 1295 Main Street, Marshfield. Burial will be in the Winslow Cemetery.
