Obituary

Vincent R. DeAmicis, 85, passed away on May 12, 2025 at Bridges by Epoch in Pembroke, MA. Vinny was predeceased by his beloved wife, Judith (Connerney) in 2019 after 58 years of marriage. Vinny was born at home on Coolidge Avenue in Waltham, MA on September 30, 1939. He was the son of Rocco and Filomena (Schiavo) DeAmicis.

At the age of 14 Vinny began working with his father building houses. After Vinny married, he built their family home, where he and Judy raised their four children, next door to the house he grew up in. Vinny worked as a Masonry Contractor prior to starting a new career in 1972 at the Highway Department in the Town of Lincoln. He was hired as an equipment operator, then became the Foreman and was later appointed Highway Superintendent. He took pride in his work taking care of the transfer station, parks, cemeteries and the roads in town. He also built many stone walls in Lincoln and was able to match original stone walls from past eras. After 32 years of service to the town, he retired in 2004.

After 76 years of living on the same side of the street on Coolidge Avenue, Vinny and Judy left Waltham and moved full time to their cottage in East Falmouth, MA in 2015. Vinny enjoyed living near the water, taking long walks and tending his tomatoes in his garden.

In September of 2024 Vinny moved to Bridges by EPOCH at Pembroke where he found some peace and comfort while still grieving the loss of his wife. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the entire staff of Bridges for their loving care and support for the past nine months. The family would also like to express their thanks to the staff of Caring Hospice Services. We are eternally grateful for the compassionate care and support as well as the dignity that was provided to Vinny and our family,

Vinny is survived by his children; Mark DeAmicis and his wife Marcia of Townsend, MA, Michele Shea and her husband Thomas of Nashua, NH, Michael DeAmicis of Waltham, MA and Matthew DeAmicis and his wife Frances of Duxbury, MA. He also leaves behind his five grandchildren; Michael Shea, Marisa DeAmicis, Daniel Shea, Nicolas DeAmicis, Matthew DeAmicis and two great grandchildren Mason and Malachi Shea.

Vinny is also survived by his sister Catherine Knowles of Florida. He also was the brother of the late Marie Boyle and Julio DeAmicis.

Burial will be at a later date.
