Emblem

Vincent Paul Whittemore was someone who did his best to bring light and wisdom into the world for anyone who crossed his path. He was born on in 1955 to David and Sabina (Hutchinson) and passed away after medical complications on January 19, 2026 in the same city he grew up in and loved.

Vincent was raised in the Roslindale neighborhood of Boston, belonged to Holy Name Church and attended Roslindale High School. His father’s family had a long-standing milk farm on Beech Street in Roslindale which helped to establish and maintain a foothold in the area. He enlisted with the United States Army in the later 1970s, going on to earn a Marksmanship medal and station in Germany as an MP for his term. He got into the field of telecommunications in the 1980s managing a company with his brother David in Indiana for some years, returning to Massachusetts to raise his family and work towards a career with a fiber optics installation contractor through the early 2000s.

“Ski” or “Big V” is a kind soul who left a mark of grace on most anyone he came across in life and was known for deep conversation based on his various experiences through life. He welcomed many friends that his dear sons came to bring around in their adolescence and was always willing to lend an ear or share a story to the numerous people that shared time with him. He loved every moment that he got to enjoy with his grandson Vincent Thomas Jr. and was committed to spending time with him many weekends through the first years of his life.

Vincent is survived by his devoted fiancée Tawany, two beloved sons Matthew and Vincent, his pride and joy of a grandson Vincent. He also leaves behind his dear sisters Sabina, Ruth, Marie, Terri, and Carol along with his cherished brother David. He was preceded in death by his eldest sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Smith, who awaits with loving embrace. He also parts ways with many nieces and nephews and will be joining dearly departed nephews Ronald (Ronnie) Smith & Anthony Martignetti, and niece Sabina Barry.

Vincent comes from a heritage that dates back to the founding years of our country and comes from the bloodline of our Official State Hero Samuel Whittemore of Revolutionary times. He also leaves behind many people from all walks of life whom he had shown kindness and likely conversed deeply with that will remember his hospitality and influence for life.
