Virginia Marie Mullen (Madden), 81 years old of Marshfield, passed away on April 23, 2022 after a brief illness.

Ginny was born in 1941 in Dorchester to Edward and Mary (McIsaac) Madden. After a childhood lived in a large extended family who cared greatly for each other, she graduated from Cardinal Cushing High School. She then received her BA from Boston State College and began a career as an elementary school teacher in Stoughton, MA.

In 1963 Ginny married Hugh E. Mullen in Dorchester and soon paused her teaching career to begin a family and raise her 5 children. For her entire life she treated her children, their cousins and their friends with love and kindness, always welcoming them into her home. While raising her family she began and operated Adams Antiques in Dorchester. Ginny was beloved by her customers, many of whom became lifelong friends. Ginny returned to teaching after retiring from the furniture business and taught at the Marshall, Fifield, and Kenny Elementary Schools in Dorchester. In her years teaching she cared for each of her students with the same kindness and love as if they were her own children.

After her retirement from the Boston Public Schools, she and Hugh spent many years in Marshfield surrounded by family and friends who were fortunate to know her kindness and generous spirit. She was loved by everyone she knew.

Ginny was predeceased by her father, Ed Madden, her mother, Mary (McIsaac), her brothers Ed and John (Jack) and her sister Mary. She is survived by her husband Hugh of Marshfield, her sons Christopher of Marshfield, Michael and his wife Kathleen, Kevin and his wife Amy, her daughters Julie and Beth Donovan and her husband Michael, her sisters Anne Fancelli and Dorothy Dunford, and her brother Bob Madden, all of Dorchester. She is also survived by her grandchildren Emily, Sean, Edward, Brendan, Hayley, Christopher, Anna, Sarah, Michael and John.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Church, 40 Canal Street in Marshfield.
