Virginia "Ginny" Marie Whoriskey (Killeen) of Marshfield, died peacefully holding her beloved son's hand on Sunday, June 4th, 2023 after a difficult battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born in Dorchester, MA on June 30, 1950 to James and Eleanor Killeen. She grew up in Mattapan with her 3 siblings: Patricia, Donna, and Jimmy. Ginny attended St. Kevin's grammar school and graduated from St. Gregory's High School in 1968.
She attended Aquinas College and went on to work as secretary for the head of Carney Hospital. After having her son Matthew, she harnessed her passion for travel by beginning a job at Travel Directions in Duxbury where she worked for many years. She also was dedicated to Duxbury Public Schools, working as the Assistant to the Superintendent for 23 years.
Ginny married Stephen in 1979. The couple eloped to Las Vegas.
Ginny loved the beach, her family, her friends, and dancing but the light of Ginny's life was her son, Matt. They had a special bond, traveling many places together with friends, spending time in Marco Island, Florida and summers on the beach in Marshfield, MA. Later, the other lights of Ginny's life would be her four grandchildren: Sienna, Cameron, Bennett, and Gavin. Ginny especially loved playing with the kids during the summers at the beach.
Ginny is predeceased by her parents, Eleanor Killeen, James Killeen II, and brother James Killeen III. She is survived by her husband, Stephen Whoriskey. She is survived by her only son Matthew and his wife Kelly and their four children of Westwood, MA. Sister to Donna Gilraine of Norwell and Patricia Dowd of Boston and sister-in-law to Tina Killeen of Derry, NH. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend A Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, June 12th at St. Ann By the Sea Parish Church, 591 Ocean Street in Marshfield at 10:00 a.m. followed by Interment in the Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury.
