Wayne C. Laxton of South Boston passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on January 9, 2022 at the age of 77. Wayne was the beloved husband of the late Mary Ann (Bergin) Laxton; loving father of Thomas Laxton and his wife Stacey of Kingston, MA, Robin Brouillette and her husband Jared of Smithfield, RI, and Peter Laxton and his wife Ymelda of Barrington, RI; grandfather of Coralina; dear son of the late William and Jean (Hodge) Laxton and brother of the late Christine Templeton.

In life, to all who knew him, Wayne was a fun loving, funny, and charming guy. He was always quick with a joke and loved to bestow a nickname to everyone whether it was a friend, co-worker, or his kids. Big W, as he was known by his life-long group of friends in his hometown of Bethesda, MD, was a man of character and integrity and always did what was right even when it was hard to do. After a short stint as a police officer, he found his true calling in trains and retired after a long career at Amtrak as a respected and loved, fair-minded boss. The FOWs (friends of Wayne) at Amtrak are too many to count.

Wayne loved animals and had several dogs and cats in his lifetime. Late in life he liked nothing more than sitting with a cold draft beer watching the wildlife from his back porch on the Cape.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. Funeral from the funeral home on Friday, January 14 at 9:00 a.m. to St. Christine Parish Church, 1295 Main Street in Marshfield, for a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
