Wayne Prives of Damon's Point Road, Marshfield passed away peacefully at home on Friday April 8, 2022 surrounded by family and friends who loved him best. He was born November 18 th , 1950 in Malden MA to Ralph and Genesta (Colpitts) Prives.
Wayne was first and foremost, a family man who loved his home and his beautiful gardens. For years he grew dahlias and all sorts of flowers. His vegetable garden was prolific including many varieties of tomatoes, beets, squash, beans and all assortments of greens. He found great joy in tending his gardens and enjoyed cooking out on summer nights on his deck using the bounty from his garden.
For 40 years Wayne was the Climate Control Manager at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. He was totally dedicated to his job and was greatly respected by colleagues for his knowledge, thoroughness, and leadership. He knew every inch of the museum and the conditions needed to preserve each collection. Any time there was a big storm or changes in weather conditions, Wayne's phone would ring and he would be off to the MFA. He carried precious paintings out of the basement when Storrow Drive flooded, and worked furiously to save a wing in the museum where fragile furniture and art was at risk of destruction from a change in humidity / temperature. He loved his job.
Wayne could fix and build anything. He would gladly help any friend or neighbor with projects or provide friendly expert advice! Many of his bird houses are in the neighborhood and surrounding gardens.
Wayne could really sing, and he knew the lyrics to any song you could name. He loved The Four Seasons, Neil Diamond and the Beach Boys. His voice and fun spirit on nights when he turned it full on will be long remembered and missed by all. He really enjoyed life. In summer, he would bring a cooler of food and pack up family, friends and the dog in his little boat to head to the spit to enjoy glorious summer weather and relaxing with friends and family.
Wayne leaves behind the wife he loved dearly, Susan Prives of Marshfield, his daughter, Tina Beauregard of Salem and son-in-law, Steve and his two grandsons Max and Dylan; his daughter, Lisa Prives of Hanover and his granddaughter Iana Littler; his son Matthew Prives of West Bridgewater and daughter-in-law Andrea Prives; his brother Bill Prives, FL and his sister Donna Rosati, FL; his brother-in-law Norman Legro of Danvers MA, sister-in-law Dianne Legro of Scituate and brother-in-law Nathan Legro of Marshfield; and Stella, his dog. He also leaves many loved nieces and nephews, family members and longtime friends who loved him dearly and will always carry him in their hearts.
