Obituary

William F. Baldwin, 68, of West Harwich and formerly of Hanover, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014 at the Cape Cod Hospital. He was the husband of Emily (Hodgdon) Baldwin for 47 years.



Born January 31, 1946 in Quincy, he was the son of the late William Baldwin and Helen (Barrett) Baldwin. Raised in Hull and Hingham, he was a graduate of Hingham High School, Bridgton Academy in Maine and Defiance College, Defiance, Ohio.



Bill was the owner of Hingham Business Machine Co., Inc. and Marshfield Office Supply Company for over 20 years. He also had taught at Rockland High School for a short period of time.



Bill and his family settled in Hanover in 1971 where he enjoyed coaching youth baseball and hockey. In 1995 he moved to West Harwich where he served on the planning board of the Town of Harwich and was a Trustee of the Harwich Conservation Trust. He was the former Vice-chairman of Community Preservation Committee and Chairman of the Harwich Conservation Trust Golf Tournament.



He is survived by his wife, Emily (Hodgdon) Baldwin of West Harwich; his sons, Michael L. Baldwin and his wife Christine of Sudbury and Scott B. Baldwin and his wife Kerry of Hanover; his grandchildren, Katie, Sydney, Abbey, Keegan and Callahan Baldwin; his brother, Fredrick Baldwin of Falmouth; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.



A Memorial Gathering will be held in the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St., Marshfield on Friday from 4:00-7:00PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory may be made to The Family Pantry of Cape Cod, 133 Queen Anne Rd., Harwich, MA 02645 or the Harwich Conservation Trust, PO Box# 101, South Harwich, MA 02661.
