William P. Burkinshaw passed away peacefully in his Marshfield home on Aprill 9, 2025.

William was a private and soft-spoken man who loved sharing stories about his many adventures from traveling around the world for many years. In his later years, he enjoyed his excursions around town and seeing friends and neighbors at the post office. He was a faithful communicant at St. Christine's for many years. A fond memory of him is sitting with his children on the front porch, watching airplanes and Skylab flying over. On Sundays, he always cooked dinner for his family. It was always a special treat when he did this.

Although he moved his family to upstate New York and Illinois, he returned to this area often to visit family and friends. After retiring, he moved back home to live out the rest of his life, surrounded by all that was loved and familiar.

He is survived by his son William of Fredericksburg, VA; son Mark and wife Wendy of Grayslake, IL; daughter Betsy (Burkinshaw) Cox and her husband George of Rice Lake, WI. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Andrew, Sarah, Victoria, Michaela, and Alexandra. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Natalie (Hardy) Burkinshaw and his sister Natalie (Burkinshaw) Henderson and her husband Thomas.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Woodside Cemetery, No. Main Street in Cohasset.
