Obituary

William Lee Curran, formerly of Scituate, MA, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2021 at the age of 85.

Born in Boston in 1936, Bill was raised in Roxbury with siblings Jack, Gary, Pat, Joan, and Donna by their mother, Irene. He served for 4 years in the Army during the Korean War and in 1960 married Carole Russo. Bill and Carole moved their young family to Scituate, MA in 1970 and Bill, always hard-working and fiercely independent, called upon his work experience with American Mutual Insurance Agency to open his own business, Curran Insurance Agency, in Scituate Harbor. He owned and operated his successful agency until retiring to Florida in 1994.

Bill was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease in 2008 and continued to live independently until 2012, when he moved to Frederick, Maryland to be closer to his family. There he was well cared for at Citizen's Care and Rehabilitation until his passing on Sunday, October 24, 2021.

It's said that Alzheimer's is "the long goodbye" – a truly accurate description of the progression of this disease. If there is any grace to it, at least in Bill's case it was that he remembered only the good.

Bill leaves his three children, Gayle Curran Petersen, Gregory Curran, and Christine Curran, grandchildren Joshua, Faith, Jessica, and Maximus, and two sisters, Donna Merlino and Joan Howlett.

Funeral Services will be private.
