William George Grable passed away September 18, 2026. Son of Alice Collins Grable and William Howard Grable, “Bill” was born on March 18, 1939 in Boston, Massachusetts. Shortly after graduating from Weymouth High School, Bill married Elaine Lewisalso of Weymouth. Bill went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Bridgewater State College and served a short stint as a middle school social studies teacher.

Leaving the classroom, Bill took off for the friendly skies, spending the rest of his professional life as a pilot for United Airlines. Despite all the traveling, Bill was happiest at home when he was immersed in a project like putting in a pool, rearranging a fence layout, crafting an invention out of wood, redesigning the landscape, building a structure with his grandsons or simply mowing the lawn.

Outgoing by nature, Bill was always looking to lend a hand, to help a neighbor or to brighten somebody’s day with a joke or a funny story. Above all, Bill loved his family. Having everyone together for a happy hour or a dinner would often evoke his frequent exclamation, “This is the life!” And what a life it was.

Bill leaves behind his wife Elaine “Lainie” Grable and his brother Philip Michael Grable of Hanson. He is survived by four children: Steven Grable and his wife Priscilla, Edward Grable, Kathleen (Grable) Davis, and Pamela (Grable) Roberts and her husband Rock. He is survived by his grandchildren: Nicholas, Cameron, and Zachary Davis; Kyle Grable; Edward Grable and his partner Jenna Bailey; and Dylan, Danielle, and Caroline Roberts. He is also survived by one great grandchild, Graham Joseph Grable.
