Obituary

William (Bill) A. Hocking, 91, of Quincy, MA. Son of the late William and Emma Hocking, brother of the late John (Jack) Hocking and his late wife Ann of Marshfield, uncle of John Hocking and his wife Sheila of Hanover, William Hocking and his wife Johanne of Marshfield, Stephen Hocking of Marshfield, Michael Hocking and his wife Sharon of Duxbury , Maryann Viola and her husband Anthony of Marshfield, cousin of Richard (Dicky) Travers and his late wife Linda of Quincy, and their children, Richard, the late Teresa, James, Mary, Patricia, and the late Thomas (Bomber), and cousin Joan Barnes and her husband Buddy, and their children Joseph, Brian and David.

Bill was born and raised in Boston. He was called to military service during the Korean War with his brother Jack. He worked for General Dynamics in Quincy for over 35 years until his retirement. When his father passed away in 1965 at the young age 53, he took the role of caring for his mother and grandmother until their passing. His lifelong commitment to family was his most cherished quality. Bill was a religious man and loved sports, especially baseball and basketball. Not having kids of his own, he spent a lot of time with his brother and cousin's families. He could always be seen with his brother Jack or his cousin Dicky at his nephew and niece's ballgames. Bill enjoyed going to the dog track in Raynham and betting on the dog races. He loved sitting at the sea wall at Wollaston Beach drinking coffee and reading his Bible. He grew especially close to his nephew Jacky as he was always there for him until his passing just as Bill was with his family.
