William J. "Bud" Francis, Jr., of Marshfield, passed away on February 18, 2019 at the age of 72 after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Bud is survived by his beloved wife Linda (Brusinski) Francis, daughter Christine Maginnis, her husband Christopher, and granddaughter Riley Maginnis all of Marshfield. He is the brother of Jeanne May (Michael) of Wellfleet, Elizabeth Pylypink (Mike) of Avon, and the late Susan Quill of East Bridgewater. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, long time friends and neighbors.

Bud was born in South Boston, MA on June 9, 1946 to the late Mary Smallcomb Francis and William J. Francis, Sr. Bud graduated from Randolph High School in 1964 he went on to earn a BSA in Accounting and Finance from Bentley College in 1969. Bud had a long career in Management at Boston Whaler, Pearson Yachts, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna Insurance Company, American Indemnity Insurance Company, and retired from AON (Cananwill) in 2002. He was a licensed Insurance Broker and Certified MA Assessor.

Bud was dedicated to the Town of Marshfield as a member of the Advisory Board 1978-1980, the Board of Trustees for the Clift Rogers Library, Assessor 1982-1991, Selectman 1991-2000, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen 1999-2000, Marshfield Airport Commissioner 2000- 2015. He served as a Long time Member of the Marshfield Rod and Gun club. He was instrumental in making Marshfield what an amazing town it is today.
Bud was a man of many hats, literally and figuratively, he had a true zest for life. This was evident in his many activities; which included boating, riding his motorcycle, Corvette cruising, piloting airplanes, riding horses, golfing, collecting hats and historical memorabilia, walking his Airedales and feeding the birds. He was an avid reader and historian. He was self proclaimed "Indiana Jones".

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. Funeral procession from the funeral home on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. for a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in St. Christines Parish Church, 1295 Main Street, Marshfield. Burial will be in the Couch Cemetery.
