William 'Bill' M. Hughes, Jr., of Marshfield, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 20, 2016, after a brief illness. Bill is the beloved husband of 58 years to Margaret 'Margo' (Johnson) and devoted father of Marybeth Rorke, Diane Nagi, Tom Hughes and his wife Lauren, all of Marshfield, and the late Chip Hughes. Bill also leaves 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Bill was born in Boston and raised in Belmont. He attended B.C. High and was a graduate of The College of the Holy Cross, Class of 1956. Bill was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and worked as an Adjudicator for the State of Massachusetts. After retirement, Bill and Margo enjoyed 13 years in Englewood, Florida before returning home to Marshfield this year.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte. 139) in Marshfield. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 40 Canal Street, Marshfield. Burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will be private.
