Obituary

William Joseph Palmieri, Sr. (Bill), 82, of Marshfield, Massachusetts, a devoted father, family man, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in January 1943 in Dorchester, Massachusetts, Bill was the youngest son of the late Georgina and Cataldo Palmieri. He spent his early years being educated in Dorchester and later attended Northeastern University in Boston, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering in 1965. While in college, he fell in love with Helen Lacey Palmieri, and they were married in April 1963.

Bill was a man of quiet strength, steady presence, and deep care for those around him. Though his faith was a private and personal matter, he lived a life grounded in strong values and morals that were evident in his integrity, compassion, and sense of responsibility toward others. He was deeply dedicated to his family and inspired his children to value lifelong learning and critical thinking while also fostering a love of sports and healthy competition. To those who knew him best, he was a constant source of guidance, reliability, and comfort.

Professionally, Bill built a distinguished career as a Civil Engineer spanning more than five decades. He earned the respect of colleagues with his steady leadership, technical expertise, and unwavering dedication. His work carried him around the world, from large-scale infrastructure projects in Kuwait to the development of transportation systems in California, accomplishments he remained characteristically humble and quietly proud.

Bill's dance moves, often accompanied by his singing, brought laughter and joy to family gatherings and celebrations, creating memories that will be fondly cherished. In his later years, he found his greatest happiness in life's simple pleasures, especially sharing a perfectly chilled gin and tonic in the company of good friends and loved ones.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen; his older sister, Marie Gage; and his eight children: William Palmieri Jr. (Melissa), Robert Palmieri (Elaine), Richard Palmieri (Jeanine), Susan Hunter (Donny), Sandra Palmieri (Cheryl), John Palmieri (Amanda), Thomas Palmieri (Kate), and Laura Palmieri. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; Brooke, Bryan, Bobby, Jake, Kathryn, Mia, Hannah, Sabrina, Jordan, Lauren, Lacey, Wesley, Wyatt, Sydney, William, Andrew, and great-grandchildren Logan, Myles, and Rae, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy. Bill was predeceased by his older brother, Russell Palmieri, and his granddaughter, Alexandra Palmieri.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield.
