Daniel P. O'Connor, of Kingston, passed away on January 10, 2019 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of the late Natalie M. (King) O'Connor; dear father of Michael O'Connor of Marshfield, Daniel O'Connor of Bridgewater, Caroline Pires of New Bedford, and Paula Peterson and her husband Kenneth of Kingston. Daniel leaves his grandchildren Shane, Jessica, Sean, Corey, and Kaitlyn O'Connor, Colin and Hannah Peterson, and Alicia Pires, 5 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Joan O'Connor.

Daniel was born in Boston. He graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas School. He proudly received a football scholarship to Niagara University. He graduated Niagara University in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science (Economics). In recognition of Distinctive Scholarship, Daniel received The Chaplain Duggan Purse for Excellence in Military Science and Athletics, 1st Lieutenant, Infantry, US Army Reserve. He also served in the 101st Airborne during the Korean War. On May 5, 2007, Daniel was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Niagara University for football and track.

Daniel began his professional career as a 6th grade teacher at the Lawrence W. Pingree Elementary School, Weymouth MA. He retired from teaching at the Elden H. Johnson School, Weymouth MA after 35 years in the Weymouth schools. In addition to teaching Daniel worked as the Operation Supervisor at South Station, for Plymouth and Brockton Street Railway (P&B) for 25 years.

Dan was a long time member of Marshfield Country Club, where he maintained a single digit handicap, was Club Champion and served on the Beautification Committee. He also enjoyed gardening and photography.

Dan and Natalie enjoyed their retirement years at their homes at Countryside, Naples FL and Town & Country Estates, Kingston MA.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street Marshfield, MA. Funeral procession from the funeral home on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. to Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 40 Canal Street, Marshfield, for a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery will be at a later date.
