Obituary

Michael J. Ricci, 51, a resident of Marshfield, Massachusetts, sadly passed away on January 28, 2021. Michael was born on December 29, 1969 and grew up in Hyde Park, MA. Beloved husband to Christine Ricci; Loving father to Angel Ricci, Michael V. Ricci Jr, and Sophiya Ricci; Beautiful son to William and Norma Ricci; Dear brother to William (Billy) Ricci and his wife Lisa, Donna Ricci, Paul Ricci, Diana Ricci and Anthony Ricci. Loving son-in-law to Papi, and Olga and David Binford. Caring brother-in-law to Priscilla Sanchez and Graciela Sanchez; Loving uncle to several nieces and nephews and beloved to numerous cousins; Loyal and faithful friend to many.

Michael Ricci was a man of faith, honor, loyalty, sacrifice, love, and was the epitome of selflessness and servitude - constantly assisting others in times of need. After graduating from Hyde Park High School, Michael joined the U.S. Army at the age of 18. He served in the Gulf War (Desert Storm) and courageously earned numerous awards for his bravery including: Army Achievement Medal // Army Lapel Button // Army Commendation Medal // Army Service Ribbon // Good Conduct Medal 1st AWD // Kuwait Liberation Medal // National Defense Service Medal // Overseas Service Ribbon w/NUM 1 // Southwest ASIA Service Medal w/3 Bronze // Con't in Block 18.

After his honorable completion of his military service, Michael then pursued life as a Boston FireFighter for 23 years. Most recently he earned the position of Aide to the District Chief where he worked tirelessly day by day, displaying what it means to be a true firefighter. From starting out on Ladder 26 to moving around to multiple stations such as Ladder 6, Ladder 4, Ladder 18, Ladder 9, Michael was a self-sacrificing and humble man - never seeking recognition for his selfless acts. He constantly showed courage and set positive examples to his fellow firefighters and put his life on the line every day to protect the people of Boston.

Michael was a very loving family man. He was a beloved husband and a very devoted father to his three kids. He exuded love, care and comfort to them every single day. Each of the children had a personal and special bond with Michael and all three kids reciprocated the same enormous amount of love toward him. He demonstrated to his kids throughout their lives the same principles he had as a firefighter - setting positive examples of strength, sacrifice, bravery, courage, and kindness. Being a dad to his three kids was one of the greatest honors, joys and sources of pride for Michael.

Michael was a very humorous guy when it comes down to personality. Always trying to break the ice in any situation, plugging in "that's what she said" jokes, and was notorious for being the best guy to bust another's chops. He always made people feel comfortable and allowed them to loosen up if they ever felt nervous or uneasy.

Michael had a deep love for the sea and was an avid fisherman. He loved going to Rexhame Beach by the river on a Friday night with his kids, teaching them how to fish, what line to use, etc. Everything there was to know, he would teach. He never cared if he caught fish...to him doing something he loved with the people he loved was what mattered most.

Michael also had a love and passion for cooking. He was the cook of the house and was a talented one at that. When he came home from work, he would take a shower, get changed and head straight to the grill. Early in Michael's life he had desires of being a cook. Standing behind the grill or stove allowed him to live out that dream.

Music was an integral part of Michael's soul. He heavily identified with the 80s rock music era. He was considered an expert on numerous songs and bands. He would often stay up late at night with his kids, put on a music video, sharing his memories tied to the song, including songs that reminded him of his days serving in the military. He would also gather other music buffs in the family, play music trivia and other music-related games.

Michael always strived to be the best man he could be. He was deeply loved and valued by so many and will be greatly missed. His legacy will be carried on by his three children and loved ones.
