Steiner, Lt. Richard F. BFD. Suddenly Nov 11, 2018. Beloved husband of Anne (McFarland) Steiner. Loving father of Richard M. Steiner, Kevin T. Steiner, Mary Kate Steiner and the late Annie M. Steiner all of Marshfield. Son of the late Thomas and Margaret (Dineen) Steiner. Dear brother of Patricia O'Neil of Weymouth, Thomas Steiner of So. Boston, John Steiner of Brentwood, CA. and the late Margaret M. Steiner. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in South Boston, Rich graduated from Southie High in 1974. He joined the Marines in 1977 and was deployed to Italy. Leaving the Marines as a Sergeant in 1980, Rich served 3 more years in the Reserves. He met the love of his life, Anne, in 1981 at Boston City Hospital where she worked and they eloped the following year. Rich joined the Boston Fire Department and served for 32 years, raising in ranks from Private to Lieutenant. Rich and Anne left Boston in 1987 to put down roots in Marshfield and raise their 4 children for the next 30 years.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday Nov. 18, 2018 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St. Rte. 139, Marshfield. Funeral from the funeral home on Monday, Nov. 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St Ann by the Sea Church, 591 Ocean St. Marshfield at 11:00 a.m. Interment will in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne following the Mass at 1:30 PM. Contribution in Lt. Richard Steiner's memory may be made to the Boston Fire Fighters Children's Fund 60 Hallet St. Dorchester, MA. 02124.
